Following is a statement from Rebecca Dixon, executive director of the National Employment Law Project:
“The National Employment Law Project (NELP) enthusiastically commends President Biden for nominating Jessica Looman to serve as the Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division (WHD) at the United States Department of Labor.
“Ms. Looman has been serving as the Acting Administrator of the WHD since the beginning of the Biden Administration and has done admirable work in that capacity. She has overseen a rigorous regulatory agenda, significant hiring to replenish the staff of the WHD throughout the country and has instituted targeted and effective initiatives that focus on racial equity in its enforcement actions.
“Workers across the country deserve to have an effective Administrator at the WHD, and in Ms. Looman, they would have just that. NELP urges the Senate to take up her nomination and confirm her swiftly.”
