Pass the Empowering App-Based Workers Act
App-based drivers and delivery workers are demanding increased pay and work assignment transparency from big tech companies like Amazon, Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash that use technology to decide who works, when, and for how much—keeping workers in the dark while taking a bigger slice of each fare. US Senators have followed their lead by introducing the Empowering App-Based Workers Act, an important legislative step forward in workers’ fight to make delivery and driving good jobs across the U.S.

The bill would:
- Require big tech companies to provide detailed weekly pay statements and itemized receipts to workers.
- Give app-based workers a pathway to know how big tech companies make decisions about their pay, work assignments, and discipline.
- Allow app-based workers to choose trusted organizations and allies to receive and help them understand data and information about algorithms used to determine work assignments, pay, and discipline.
- Guarantee app-based drivers 75 percent of each passenger fare.
- Require equal pay for equal work.
- Provide strong enforcement, allowing app-based workers to receive money damages.
Contact your senators and tell them to support app-based workers’ demands by passing the Empowering App-Based Workers Act.
