Biography

Jesse Lewis, Jr. is Executive Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at the National Employment Law Project.

Jesse is a 1979 graduate of Jacksonville University, where he was a member of the 1976 JU baseball team, which still holds the record for most victories in a season (45), highest national ranking (#5), and highest final season ranking (#9, just barely missing the College World Series). The 1976 team was inducted into the Jacksonville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Jesse also was involved in other student activities, including serving as sports editor of The Navigator, participating in the Student Judicial Board and United Black Students, and being a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

Jesse has worked in both the public and private sectors as an administrator for more than 20 years. Among the positions he held were directing an energy program for low-income residents and directing the Summer Youth Employment Program in New Jersey’s second-largest city, Jersey City. He has also served in administrative positions in companies such as the CIT Group, Infineum USA, and the Walt Disney Company.

A passionate New York Mets and New York Giants fan, Jesse is a proud grandfather of three (Jesse IV, Josiah, and Keturah).
