On NY Governor Cuomo’s Push for $15 Minimum Wage

Statement of Paul Sonn, general counsel and program director at the National Employment Law Project:

“Governor Cuomo’s historic push to make New York the first $15 minimum wage state would give more than one in three New York workers a raise averaging $4,800 a year—real money that would improve the lives of over three million New Yorkers.

“A growing list of business leaders and economists confirm that phased in over five years, a $15 wage is feasible for employers both upstate and down, and would help both workers and the state’s economy.

“We commend Governor Cuomo for his bold vision and urge the State Legislature to join him in making a $15 wage a reality for all workers in all regions of the state.”
