Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs)

Immigrant workers often face obstacles to accessing critical state services and private institutions due to a lack of reliable identification.   This section focuses on the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, a number issued by the Internal Revenue Service for the purposes of paying taxes.

ITIN Fact Sheet for Workers.   This fact sheet explains what an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) is, why an immigrant worker might want to get one, what an ITIN can be used for and how to get one following the new regulations.  (November 2004)
