Workplace Rights
The workplace rights of low-wage immigrant workers and undocumented workers in particular are under constant attack. The U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Hoffman Plastic Compounds v. NLRB has emboldened employers to mistakenly argue that undocumented workers do not have any workplace rights. Such misinformation makes the dissemination of accurate legal information to workers, advocates and policy makers about the rights of immigrant workers more urgent. This section provides legal analysis, fact sheets and tools for legislative advocacy related to protecting and expanding the workplace rights of immigrant workers.

Initiatives in Specific Industries
While many immigrants toil in the low-wage service and manufacturing economy, the specific workplace injustices and methods of exploitation differ with each industry. Successful advocacy strategies and solutions must address the particularities of different workforces. NELP assists offers legal support to organizers and advocates in efforts to improve working conditions in particular industries such as day labor and domestic work.

Access to Government Services
Immigrant workers face many barriers to accessing important social service and benefit programs. This section contains resources in three broad categories. First, there are materials related to increased access for limited English speakers to government services and enforcement mechanisms. Second, there are resources pertaining to increased acceptance of varied and reliable forms of identification such as the Indivudal Tax Payer Identification Number (ITIN), drivers' licenses and the matricula consular. Finally, this section contains resources to ensure access to critical government services without fear by protecting confidential information and immigration status.
