Ensuring Our Nation Gets a Labor Secretary Who Puts Workers First

(Update: Andrew Puzder withdrew from consideration for U.S. labor secretary on February 15, 2017. On February 16th, President Trump announced the nomination of Alexander Acosta for the post.)

The U.S. Department of Labor is the federal agency responsible for enforcing minimum wage and overtime rights, ensuring workers’ safety on the job, and overseeing unemployment insurance benefits and other core rights.

The Labor Department’s stated mission is “to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners of the United States, to improve their working conditions, and to advance their opportunities for profitable employment.”

America’s workers need, and we demand, a labor secretary who will be a true champion for working families.
